In the mountains everyone, and I do mean everyone, waves. When I'm riding the Ural almost everyone waves and many give a thumbs up too. Once again, some Pirates ignore me - smart folks.
I always want to give the Pirates a bag of candy and compliment them on their outfit.

It couldn't be farther away from a scooter.
Its a naked retro bike.
Ow, and my current ride is a Burgman 650.
From the front it can look like a genuine motorcycle.

But a CB can never look like a scooter, not for even 1%...

I wave to everybody: scooter pilots, even Harley drones. Everyone is taking the same risk. Whether they wave back or not is of no concern to me.

I started riding in the UK, and there, since we ride on the left side, it's a nod, rather than a wave, to greet fellow riders. It's pretty cool actually. However, in London, nobody nods. There are just way too many bikes, and not really a feeling of camaraderie. It's a selfish city by and large, people focus on themselves mostly - similar to what I found living in New York. Once you leave London though, I found that most everyone in the UK nods.
In Hungary where I live now, there are a lot fewer bikes, and generally everyone waves to each other. Similar to the US, it's an upside down (or vertical) peace sign, or just an index finger.
I wave to everybody, but scooter riders have to wave first

When I was a student, I gave a lift to a friend of mine with my old car. While he was steering the car, he waved to an oncoming Porsche and the Porsche driver by surprise waved back. "Do you know him?", I asked. He replied: "No, but Porsche drivers greet each other." "Hm", I said, "But this is no Porsche and also you don't own a Porsche at all." "Also future Porsche drivers.", he casually mentioned.

Didn't think about that australian wave being that they drive on the opposite side of the road, that being said, how do you wave in aussie land, kinda hard with the throttle hand I would think......?

Very very cool, but not surprised. Leno is a true car (and bike) guy, a real gear-head and supposedly very down-to-earth when talking to people at car shows. He has been known to show up to local small car shows like Cars and Coffee and Supercar Sundays and people casually chat with him.
