A few years ago, I was stuck in the Dublin airport trying to get home from a trade show. The gate agent gave the time that the plane was supposed to depart not in hours or minutes, but in how many Guinnesses I could reasonably be expected to consume before the flight departed. I thought that was a novel concept. I limited myself to the number that would allow me to still be aware that I was at an airport waiting for a flight. The original doughnuts, from my very limited research on the topic, were first developed in 17th century New York by Dutch immigrants who stuffed nuts and fruit into dough balls to keep the center from being soggy from frying. So, no hole. The ring shape was developed for the same reason as the fillings, to promote even cooking of the dough. So, Bismarcks, Crullers, Long Johns, pączki, Bear Claws, and cake and raised dough rings are all part of the lovely and wondrous doughnut family. Wherever they came from, it's something I eat when my wife isn't supervising me. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - suhawk305 - 08-09-2023 Went on a 114mile ride today and stopped in Lackawaxen, PA for this picture. The Delaware River is in the background and New York State is on the other side of the river. The river is quite muddy with the all of the rain storms hitting our area. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - peterbaron - 08-09-2023 Mike, beautiful shot with a rare yellow helmet. Also, your bike is properly equipped with RLETs, chrome crash bars, nicely done headers and D.O.T sticker, I guess.. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - GoldOxide_imp - 08-09-2023 (+1) Looks good suhawk. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - The A-man - 08-09-2023 Nice pics Mike. See you in a couple of weeks! RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - suhawk305 - 08-09-2023 Thanks Peter, the helmet is a Shoei GT-Air II and yellow is one of the standard colors. It is NYS safety inspection sticker on the fork.
