I for one don't dislike someone BECAUSE of what they ride. But certain types/models appeal to certain types. I'm not a crotch-rocket type, either - but many of those riders are kids or twentysomethings who seem to have self-control issues.

There are many types on all kinds of cycles - no one would make me a biker, either, not on anything - but a disproportionate number of Harley owners seem to gravitate to the apehanger/sleeves-ripped-off/Sons-of-Anarchy style, as noted above. I have no interest in that and no time for it.

Nor am I impressed with open pipes - no matter if on a Harley or a tractor-trailer or a lawnmower. And again, it seems a bigger percentage of Harleys are set up that way.

I dislike H-D, its traditional lineup...because I myself find them appealing as Chinese scooters, or Rambler automobiles. And the design, style and much engineering, as old as a Rambler. If they wake up out of their stupor, as they may be doing, and get some modern cycles out there...maybe they could play with other engine layouts besides a lopsided vee. Not all of us are entranced with a rough idle from an engine design that was a 1930s compromise.

So. There ya have it. Ride what you want; own what you want. There are people who collect Checker cab cars, too...I can respect the knowledge of the enthusiast, even if it's something I'd never get into.
