I was riding home last night on my Interceptor, and was on a stretch of freeway that was empty. I started hitting my horn button just to test it, and noticed that each time I hit the horn, my speedo needle would peg at top speed. As happens frequently, any issues that arise frequently are related with what was last done to the bike, so speedo cable you replaced, either being faulty or 'a pinched nerve' upon installation seems a likely suspect for the speedo needle / horn issue. What did the RE forum people say? Anyone there with a similar issue? RE: Royal Enfield 2025 Classic 650 - Gone in 60 - 11-16-2024 Huh, guess my reply didn’t post. Nobody on the RE forums is reporting the same anomaly. I’ll fiddle with the speedo cable connection when I get home from a trip we’re currently on. Or not, it’s kind of neat! Been tempted with mine since parts are so cheap for this bike relative to anything else. Speaking of which, I made a few style changes on a few things I’d consider frivolous expenses if they’d have cost more. Thanks for the tips & pointers. Your speedo may be affected by broken wires in the cable. Saw a post where they detailed how there’s three small gauge wires in the “cable”. One or two of them were broken (bad new cable?). Good luck. Please let us know what find. I plan on riding the bike this afternoon, and will report back. For those who have dealt with the hornets nest inside most Hondas and other bikes; here’s a shot of the RE’s. Pretty cool how they keep it tidy. RE: Royal Enfield 2025 Classic 650 - Gone in 60 - 11-16-2024 Also an easy place to tap to get power for auxiliary lights. RE: Royal Enfield 2025 Classic 650 - Razor - 11-17-2024 Found out a couple of things on yesterday’s ride. The speedo wasn’t effected by using the horn, and it was very hard to shift into 2,3,4,5 & 6th. Didn’t take long to find the culprit. The shift linkage was off one spline (dealer prep?). Went for another ride; what a great machine! Shifted through the gears easily, plenty of power and handles well. RE: Royal Enfield 2025 Classic 650 - the Ferret - 11-18-2024 I doubt if the dealer hooks up shift linkage. That would probably be a factory assembly issue. Amazing to me you were able to diagnose that RE: Royal Enfield 2025 Classic 650 - Razor - 11-19-2024 Wasn’t hard to figure out. The shift lever was hitting the foot peg bracket when you tried shifting it 2,3,4,5 & 6.
