RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Rebel73_imp - 01-30-2016 What is it about installing the RC that causes this issue? I don't have any vibration issues with the Dart Flyscreen. I just pulled the trigger on the RC. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Lord Popgun - 01-30-2016 I don't know if it really had anything to do with installing a screen, except maybe it just let us hear it. Acting like a reflector or something. Or maybe he has a different buzz (no pun intended . I wouldn't go so far as to say it's RC1 related. I had a Puig Plus before my RC1 and the noise started after I mounted the Puig. It's a fairly tight fit in the headlight she'll for the connectors when the light it mounted in it.Mine didn't buzz for a long time, then started. Someone mentioned the connectors vibrating might be it so I just happened to be the first to try the wrap job. Worked for a few of us. And an easy to try fix. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Gumby 1100_imp - 01-30-2016 I think that the RC fairing and some other windscreens may act like parabolic sound reflectors. I didn't really notice any buzz until I mounted the National Cycle EX screen, which was in no way touching the instrument cluster, but it seems to have focused or amplified other noises right back at me. My buzz turned out to be the notorious "headlight bucket rattle" which others have experienced. It was most noticeable right around 3500 rpm. The "Popgun Foam Wrap Job" worked for me! RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Lord Popgun - 01-31-2016 RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - GoldOxide_imp - 03-10-2018 I know this is an old thread, but it is still valid and it is useful to support the posters. I concur with the group fix consensus. I noticed at least three, possibly four wire connectors digging into the headlight shell and leaving friction wear points. I suspect one or more of these connectors were contributing to the nuisance. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Hondakid_imp - 08-10-2018 I have been searching for these comments! I knew there were bound to be others with this same buzz, now I know just what to do. Luckily I have not tossed the foam wrapping from the Puig screen that I just ordered
RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - emptysea - 08-10-2018 There is another, more recent, thread where someone described fixing a buzzing from the instrument cluster by installing a rubber washer someplace. I’ve searched like 10 different ways and can’t find it. Any help would be appreciated. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - Offroad - 08-10-2018 I just keep a microfiber towel rolled up and stuffed between the shield and instruments.....it will stay there up to about 90 mph :-) Serves two purposes, stops vibration and I always have a clean towel to wipe off the seat if needed Lol Use a dark towel and you'll never notice it. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - HondaJon_imp - 09-17-2018 Mine was doing this too. I thought it was the Dart screen but found it was between the headlight and the bucket. I placed a short piece of foam weather stripping just behind the tab on the headlight where the headlight and bucket touch and the buzzing has stopped. RE: Buzzing Instrument Cluster - misterprofessionality - 09-17-2018 interesting. were you getting this buzz at any specific RPM, or just all the time? |
