RE: Almost crashed today - pechorin75_imp - 04-20-2014 It's funny, though, watching these crash vids, how often the people immediately jump up and start trying to lift the bike. Part of it's probably adrenaline, but there must be a pretty strong embarrassment factor too. It's kinda like they're thinking, "Maybe if I get this thing picked up right away, nobody will notice!" Despite the fact that somebody's standing there with a video camera... RE: Almost crashed today - gary_imp - 04-21-2014 Glad you and the bike are okay. Stay safe. Lol, yeah, it's like "please make that didn't happened God!"
RE: Almost crashed today - HikerToo_imp - 04-21-2014 Not sure if it counts...but I had a mountain bike crash( over the handle bars) due to some roots Saturday, sprained 3 fingers, having trouble using my CB1100 clutch hand....bummer, but if I can hurt myself that quick and bad on a bicycle going <5MPH, don't want to think of what a motorcycle could do. ( although I've had 2 over last 25 years) RE: Almost crashed today - Tortuga_imp - 04-21-2014 (04-21-2014, 05:24 AM)HikerToo_imp Wrote: Not sure if it counts...but I had a mountain bike crash( over the handle bars) due to some roots Saturday, sprained 3 fingers, having trouble using my CB1100 clutch hand....bummer, but if I can hurt myself that quick and bad on a bicycle going <5MPH, don't want to think of what a motorcycle could do. ( although I've had 2 over last 25 years) Hope your hand heals up double fast Hiker. ![]() Yes, it's food for thought isn't it. Maybe it helps to remember how fragile we are. RE: Almost crashed today - The Spaceman_imp - 04-21-2014 There's a video I wish I could find where a guy rides a bike straight into a brick wall. The wall is at the end of a 7-11 parking lot. As he pulls in he sees someone standing in front of the store (Silent Bob?) so he guns it to show off. The bike goes ass-up and he slams his head (no helmet) so hard his flip-flops come off. He hopped right up and entered the store! It was you Spacey, wasn't it.
RE: Almost crashed today - VTR1000F_imp - 04-21-2014 here you can see a nice example of diesel spill crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YMH8n8C04UQ#t=324 RE: Almost crashed today - Tortuga_imp - 04-22-2014 (04-21-2014, 11:09 PM)VTR1000F_imp Wrote: here you can see a nice example of diesel spill crash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YMH8n8C04UQ#t=324 Yeah I saw that while I was researching the CB. I thought I was going to follow in his footsteps the other week! He did throw it into the diesel with gay abandon, as we say. Cautiously I enter the roundabout and see the patch of freshly spilt diesel which I gingerly mince around and avoid. my bike is nolonger pristine, it is laid down, not by me by my son. He wants to learn how to ride motorcycle on my bike. I say NO. When I tell him to go riding with me in backseat, he says it is boring and insists I let him to ride my bike. Well, I give in, take him out HS parking lot to teach him fundamental and tell him to go very slow. Within 10 min, the bike is on the ground on the left side!!! He is okay, the bike has scratch on engine, it is inconspicuous. but no longer pristine. Lessons learnt for both father and son. |
