The nice thing is Honda actually located it on the wheel instead of the transmission so sprocket changes won't require reprogramming the speedo.

My 1st post here and have a couple of questions regarding the ABS system :&gtWink
Owned a new '1971' CB750K1 back in the day and gave that bike to my oldest son in '1996' when i left SoCal. Been riding for over 50 years and currently own '04' Road* Warrior & '06' VStrom DL1000.

I've been waiting for the CB1100 in black and visited the stealership a couple of weeks ago. They have the '14' model w/6-speed on the floor in black with ABS.

To my surprise there was but only ONE sensor ring located on the rear wheel with the appropriate cable for that sensor and nothing at all on the front brake system including the rotor or calipers?

So what's the story with ABS on this bike linked or not linked as i'm confused since there is nothing up front to interface with the ECU.

Thanks

Alan that is not ABS, that is a sensor ring for the speedo. The only US bikes with ABS are the 14 DLX and the 13 STD ABS.

.... thanks for the quick response and education. I'm embarrassed and should know better.
The speed sensor on my Warrior indicates off the trani output shaft & the V reads the frt sprocket. Both not visible.

Not to be agumentative but I thought the USA CB1100 model was available with ABS as an option?

Alan,

Don't be embarrassed. More than one dealer said the bike was rear ABS only...mine did. Education ensued!

Alan, the '13 model had ABS as an option, so that's where the confusion lies. '14 has two separate and distinct models. Standard and DLX, with ABS only on DLX.

And info like this is what makes this forum such a valuable resource. Believe it or not, we know MORE than the dealers about this model. Sadly sometimes MUCH more.

The Canadian models have linked ABS and we only get one model.
It's a sort of semi-Deluxe model, but has a standard size gas tank (Spencer blue), single muffler and standard seat. The rest is the same as a Deluxe.

ABS probably, not linked ABS. I prefer total control of both wheel.

Ok guys .... i'm now up to speed after waiting a year for black.
The 2014 IMC bike show in Novi, MI didn't have the 2014 models.
If i want ABS than it's BIG RED which isn't my favorite color i'm saddened to say so no offense to all your rides :&gtWink

I subscribe to several cycle magazines. Cruiser, Cycle World (CW) & Motor Cyclist (MC). I recall reading in either CW or MC that the ABS version of the 2013 CB1100 model was reported with a negative overtone (for braking) compared to the non-ABS European version that was tested prior to the bike coming to the USA by the author who had ridden both models.

What are your toughts on this?

FWIIW, i'm an advocate of TCS & ABS and am not wanting to start a pi$$ing battle. Just looking for some real world experience from those members that have both versions.

thanks
