The type of riding I do are congested traffic and rarely go over 50mph. I also use short bursts of throttle to quickly accelerate ahead of traffic.. I usually get around 38mpg (about 6.2L per 100km). Does that sound reasonable?

That sounds much like my experience. City riding with a lot of traffic lights (each followed by brisk acceleration Tongue ) generally nets me about 40 mpg.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have attained 58 mpg riding secondary highways (no stops) at speeds of around 60 mph.
