RE: PHOTOBUCKET DILEMMA - Cormanus - 02-14-2016

Bob, I can't replicate what you describe, but then I'm out and have only an iPad with me. I might look at it again on my computer later in the day. Every time I go for an "i" page it redirects to "s". It doesn't seem to matter what trick I try.

Cheers

Cormanus,

Thanks for your time and effort on this. Let me know what you learn when you get back and can play more on the computer. Also, check my photobucket images on the thread below.

The first image of a map is low resolution, but the others should enlarge. Or not. I guess we'll see. Thanks again.
Well ....

Trying again, I see that my MacBook running on the Chrome browser enlarges the way it should, while my Chromebook running on Chrome wants to be "tricked" into enlarging the photo. The enlarged images will give me a 1024x576 resolution for my biggest photos which I assume is about the largest allowed by the site's resizing software. Anyway, everything's okay, I think, with what I want to do.

My Mom always said I was "special" so maybe my experience is unique.

Here's one more explanation of this interesting issue, showing 3 screen shots:

1) The forum page (below)

[url=http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/nvbobr/media/Screen%20Shot%202016-02-14%20at%207.45.18%20PM_zpsinje9xrw.png.html][Image: c263051f578c3359a79c175813d1f12a.png]

2) A simple "Click to Enlarge" -- "s" file

[url=http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/nvbobr/media/Screen%20Shot%202016-02-14%20at%207.50.10%20PM_zps5mn3afgk.png.html][Image: 6717ea9fd1166d2252b8557e88d449b6.png]

3) The image I really want to see -- "i" file using my workaround

[url=http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/nvbobr/media/Screen%20Shot%202016-02-14%20at%207.52.15%20PM_zpswdbnf6rz.png.html][Image: 1d853fd969e62fa056f51c282401d9ce.png]

Strange, but true.

RE: PHOTOBUCKET DILEMMA - kmoney_imp - 02-14-2016

So all we have to do when linking images from PB is to swap the "i" with the "s" and we can have "normal" page display without all the photobucket crap? Interesting hack if that's how it works.

You would think so, but it has never let me change the URL address from s to i in the prefix. PB always wants to redirect to "s" maybe to give you all their ads and stuff. I simply don't take "no" for an answer. When I get the first "s" photo with the PB side board stuff, I kill that window and click on the forum photo one more time. That's when I get the appropriately large "i" (uncluttered) image.

RE: PHOTOBUCKET DILEMMA - Cormanus - 02-14-2016

Bit more information:

1. The workaround seems only to work on Chrome on my Mac. It doesn't work at all with Safari in which it seems I can display only the "s" pages.

2. I thought it worked fine in Firefox with the correct link opening, but I was wrong. It's erratic and often seems to require restarting Firefox to get an image that previously wouldn't open to the "i" page to do so.

3. You won't be able to redirect in the address bar by simply changing "s" to "i" as there are other parts of the URL that are different.

I'm betting it's a Photobucket issue and I've emailed them to ask about it. I'll of course post any advice.

I couldn't get it to work last night on my pc using Safari

RE: PHOTOBUCKET DILEMMA - curlyjoe - 02-14-2016

I don't use photobucket, but are you all pasting the direct link code into the "insert image" option on the forum (where it requests the Image URL)? That should work.

Here's one of nvbobr images using photobucket direct link code and using the "insert image" on the forum.
