RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - Scoobynut_imp - 03-15-2014 I finally got around to installing my Type II bars, and the weather was almost fit for humans yesterday, so I thought I'd roll the bike out of the garage for the first time this year in case anyone wanted to see how the bars look. My apologies for the mediocre photos. While I was at it, I changed the mirrors to some ebay/Hong Kong ones that another member had provided a link to (can't remember what thread I found them in). I figured If I was going to go the low bar route, I'd try something other than the stock chrome lollipops. I haven't ridden the bike yet so it remains to be seen how the new mirrors will work. They aren't radically lower than the stock bars, but are higher than the CB500 bars -- I tried another member's bike with the CB500 bars and those are definitely lower than the Type IIs, although I didn't mind that at all. I was finding the stock bar sat me too upright, which, believe it or not aggravates my lower back more than leaning forward. I chose these for a few reasons: 1.) OEM part/fitment retaining mounting holes for controls 2.) Chrome like stock U.S. bars/stock appearance -- same reason I like the Staintune. 3.) I thought they would look cool (in addition to providing some relief to my lower back)! Will provide a ride report as soon as I can get out. It's snowing right now. Ugg. RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - the Ferret - 03-15-2014 Looking good there Scoob. Bars and mirrors definitely give it a sportier look. Now you probably need some little bullet turn signals to complete the look RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - Scoobynut_imp - 03-15-2014 (03-15-2014, 01:33 AM)The ferret_imp Wrote: Looking good there Scoob. Bars and mirrors definitely give it a sportier look. Thanks, ferret. I probably won't mess with the turn signals, I'm okay with the stock ones, I guess. I do know, however, the bike won't be truly complete until I get some of those little rubber lever tip thingies. We're never gonna let you live that one down are we?
RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - the Ferret - 03-15-2014 Live it down? Hey as I see it I am LIFTING YOU GUYS UP! ![]() all old Hondas (and old looking Hondas) should have those little rubber thingies on the ends of the levers. I'm not the only one old enough around here to remember them coming as standard equipment. They should be standard equipment now. Silly Honda! RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - Guth_imp - 03-15-2014 I do like the looks of those bars on your bike Scoobynut. Looking forward to reading your riding impressions of them. Thanks for lifting us up! Really, I am saving them as the final touch in tribute to your passion for them. I still have a few accessories to add until the bike will be ready for them.
RE: Honda Factory Type II Low Handlebars - the Ferret - 03-15-2014 ok buddy. Can't wait to see the completed project.
