Judging from the excellent results I have seen from the services I mentioned in my reply post #11, if the guy knows his stuff he should be able to fix that chip so well that nobody will ever know it was there. If you give him the factory paint there should not be any need to go to the expense of shooting the entire tank. Another thing to consider is that if/when the next chip happens, and you use the same guy to fix it, you will almost be able to have a chip fixed a third time if necessary for about what it would have cost to shoot the entire tank. Just my two cents, and hope you "get er done" to your satisfaction.

Yeah, it'll all be down to the difference in cost. If the differential is worth it to me, then I may go for it. If it seems too expensive I may just do the chip and carry on. From our phone conversation seems like he could get both done pretty reasonably. $70 bucks plus the cost of dealer touch up bottle seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm really leaning toward the CB350 scheme and painting the side covers white.

If he is going to use a touch up bottle and brush it on, I would be skeptical. If he is going to use an air brush I would be much more confident in a good result.

What 2017EX said.

I have a good paintless dent removal guy. I asked if he could fix a chip on my car quite a while ago, and he said sure. I assumed he'd use an airbrush and do a professional job. He mixed up some close-ish paint, and used a brush to blob it in. Didn't look any better than I could have done.

Looks like I'm just going to fix the chip. There's a few more weeks of possible riding, then I'll take the tank off and over to the paint guy.

Good luck with your tank!
