RE: Honda Luggage Rack - Chapomis_imp - 04-15-2015

I had similar feelings about putting a rack on, but I needed somewhere to lug stuf and don't really like tank bags, my tank is sacred. So I put the black endurance rack on hoping it would blend with the seat.

Hmm, it does indeed. Good job.

I just picked up the Griso saddle bags. Semi rigid with a custom mount that is not too obvious. Thinking I could have mounts fabled up to use the bags on the CB. Not sure I want to tour on the CB though.

Here is one source: [url=http://japan.webike.net/ps/#!p.m=311&p.c=1121&p.sk=1]http://japan.webike.net/ps/#!p.m=311&p.c=1121&p.sk=1

I didn't see Endurance on Samurider, but Mr. T does have Kajima in black [url=http://www.samurider.com/?cat=258&paged=4]http://www.samurider.com/?cat=258&paged=4 and may be able to get the Endurance if you ask him about it.

And, unless you have a set routine with supplies at both ends...you ALWAYS need to haul something.

An extra coat or sweatshirt. Lunch at work. WATER, if you're just out for a ride. Sunglasses; map; rain gear.

I have had a Bags Connection tailbag for years. Invaluable. Biggest downer on the CB is, when I tie it on, it covers the turn signals.

Since money is tight this summer...I went the cheap route. I have a luggage rack; to it I bolted on a plastic milk crate. In color-coordinating grey.

Looks like Ma and Pa Kettle. But useful beyond measure; I have an elastic net I secure over the top; and with it I can haul groceries or work supplies...anything reasonable.

Eventually I'd like something a little less uncouth; but the crate does it for now. But without the tail rack it would have been impossible, or at least very awkward.

I've been wanting to purchase the Honda rack but based on the few pictures I've seen, it appears to be taking away from the beautiful lines of the bike. I can't seem to find an image that give me a good perspective of the view from the side, rear and front/side angles.

For those that have installed the rack, have you had second thoughts about form/function vs. looks? Has it made you think twice about leaving it/removing it?

I'm sorry, I hope I'm not offending anyone just trying to get different perspectives.

Thanks.

You may have already made a decision, but I have to say that to my eye the luggage rack actually improved the look of my 2014 DLX (if such a thing is even possible!). Not sure how to describe it, but it lengthened the overall lines and made her look less boxy.

Just last week I installed the Honda rear luggage rack and posted that in another thread.
Now that I've installed it and understand how it's done, and where all the parts go, I too may not leave it on all the time but rather put it back on as the need arises.
Time will tell - but for now it's staying on.

I love the look of my bike so much as it is I am afraid to spoil the balance with the Honda rack.
I am looking at racks for other makes of bike that I may be able to adapt to fit.
