I'm right handed and doing it left handed might be tough, but probably worth a shot. I can see how that would work better than right handed.

Yea I'm right handed too, and I use my right hand on top of the gas pump to steady it but squeeze the lever with the left. You will get a feel for squeezing pressure after the first couple of fill ups. DOn't even think about it anymore. IT's natural now.

How on earth did we segue from the colour of the tank to how to fill it?

RE: Matte Red Paint - ryanschillinger_imp - 09-19-2016

The initial post I think mentioned durability against spilled gas, someone mentioned fillup process along the way. I asked how others were filling up. Still isn't quite natural for me on his bike, but I only have a couple thousand miles on it so far.

Thats nearly as bad as my racing carburetors drag bike.
By the way, the last reading from the Honda had said average mpg's was better than 44. Well, now I know!

Jeez, 36 mpg is pretty bad so I guess you do spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic. Next time check to see how much gas you add at your next fill up and then based on the tank capacity, calculate fuel remaining. Perhaps there's a problem with the gauge?

If you are going to paint your bike, make sure you use 2 part paint, no rattle can. Rattle can will melt off with a gas spill. I have had scratches on my tank. I use a good compound (Mothers Ultimate Compound) on a foam pad with a buffer will get rid of them. The clear coat seems very thick.

Problem with matte paint is you can't really polish it because then there will be a shiny spot. It would look pretty cool I bet. Tcpglobal.com has tons of choices in the hot rod flatz lineup.
