RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - VLJ_imp - 07-16-2019 The 2017's slipper clutch may have something to do with mine having no drivelash, while Eric's '14 Standard had a lot. At the time, I attributed his bike's drivelash to a loose chain, just as I attributed his bike's heavy steering and rough suspension action to worn, squared-off tires. I don't know. I just know that my '17 has no drivelash, on or off the throttle, gently applied, or hard on the gas. It would be interesting to compare the two bikes, especially since Honda front suspension now uses what would appear to be a better fork, with damping handled by the Showa Dual Bending Valve system. Also would be interested to observe any difference between my 2014 and the newer bike with slipper clutch. Perhaps you were thinking rev matching? Double clutching requires going to neutral and releasing clutch between gears...helpful with a non-synchronous trans. RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - Cormanus - 07-16-2019 Hard to double clutch on a bike, I’d have thought, other than between 2nd and 1st. RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - jimgl3_imp - 07-16-2019 yes, exactly. a previous poster posted "I don't think our CB1100 tranny would be defined a 'synchronized." I was being facetious RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - zirconxi_imp - 07-21-2020 Sorry to bring up an old thread. I notice my CB front sprocket can still turn about 1 to 2 tooth position after I engage the gear (stationary with engine stop). I am wondering if this freeplay is what Max explain here, by design, or I had damage the gear. Sometimes when I upshift on the higher rev range I kind of miss it and end up in a kind of false neutral before the gear suddenly engage in a violence way (either up or drop back) with loud grinding and banging sound. The 60mm freeplay Max explained here, is it the distance the chain can travel front and back when gear are engage with a stop engine? RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - max - 07-22-2020 Zirconxi i have just uploaded a clip with all the different ways to measure gear lash on our bikes. Hope this helps you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exAZj1X427s RE: I think I've asked this before (drive line lash) - the Ferret - 07-22-2020 Interesting vid Max. Question, where it says this is "how I adjust chain", are you just showing before and after free play? I didnt see you doing any adjusting. |
