Sounds great. I'm in. Hopefully, I can make a weekend of it. It takes me about two and a half hours to get there from San Diego. I'd like to ride up the night before, ride in the morning, then stay a second night before making the trip back south. The question will be, VFR or CB? I know, I know...first world problems.

I've ridden twice with a guy who has the latest VFR800. I've talked to him a bit and have read a bunch about it, both in the moto press and forums. Your description of what many people want is pretty spot on but those who own it and my own personal opinion is that it's an amazing bike. I think the design elements are better than ANY of the previous generations. It remains more on the sport side of the spectrum rather than the touring side as evidenced by the aggressive ergos but there are those who are using it as a touring machine and rave about the ease of handling and responsiveness of the motor (even without those much sought after gear driven cams or extra cc's).

For the most part, the new VFR is getting high praise in the forums. I feel it's well deserved. But, as you know, everyone seems to know exactly what the perfect bike is and yet, amazingly, no one seems capable or willing to make it. Haha.
