I just don't think I could pull off the maneuver you described. When I was in California traffic was stop and go alot, other motorcyclists were lane splitting. my buddy and I had intercoms and we discussed trying it, but in the end decided against it. Neither one of us had confidence that we could pull it off. ( this was on the freeway). I am also interested in the 390 Duke. They are bringing it at a very attractive price ($4999) which includes standard ABS. For those who aren't long legged or just don't need the tall riding position of a supermoto, a street fighter naked bike makes sense. RE: I want one more motorcycle...maybe a supermoto - rboe - 11-25-2014 A buddy just got a 690 Duke. He loves it. Makes his other bikes feel like lumps of coal. Ride it for a bit, then upgrade the suspension and tires and have even more of a blast. They brought them both in at great prices. (11-25-2014, 02:51 AM)Rboe_imp Wrote: A buddy just got a 690 Duke. Plus, at the price I think they really should have adjustable suspension. Looks like a ton of fun though! RE: I want one more motorcycle...maybe a supermoto - kDiqq_imp - 11-25-2014 I owned, and recently sold, a 2013 KLX250S. I did airbox mod, 2 Bros exhaust, KLX300 header, rejetted the carb, and retimed the camshafts. I commuted in Houston traffic at 65+MPH and made a trip to Austin and back. The seat is a 2x4. Period. It will destroy your back. Even with all those mods though, it's tremendously underpowered. I was at WOT to keep up with traffic and I'm only 160lbs. I regeared to try and drop RPMs on the highway and after that 6 hour trip at 80% redline RPM, my cam chain was dramatically stretched and required adjustment (auto adjuster fails, I had a manual). If you're looking at rock solid reliability, good price, and something with decent power, explore a DR650. I'm currently seeking one out when finances allow. But really, pass on the KLX250 if you're not going to be taking advantage on the manageable power and ultra light weight offroad. Hey I didn't say that LOL not sure how you quoted me I was looking at that as well. I think he quoted my post, which quoted your post. Only he deleted part of the editing and it says it's you post. Now I'm quoting your post that quoted his post, which quoted my post that quoted your post. Anyone seen Inception?.. RE: I want one more motorcycle...maybe a supermoto - rboe - 11-26-2014 My buddy plans on taking the Duke to the Guzzi rally next year. A good 500 mile trek. He thinks it would be just ducky. Now he is not the guy to compare tripping qualities of a bike as he also toured on his DR800 and I would not go out side the city limits (assuming a small town too) with it. Wish I could say that! I'm demonised for making any jokes on here that don't 'comply'. Recently I got admonished for laughing at a 'fart joke' all of which were mysteriously deleted by Ferret. I am on the brink of giving up on the dual standards of this so called 'forum'. What a bloody joke! I want one more motorcycle...maybe a supermoto - Ridem32_imp - 11-26-2014 The Grom here in Mississippi out sale a lot of bikes! Our dealers can't keep them in stock. Lane splitting is illegal in our state but most all bikes do it me included! Why sit in traffic when even a car can drive between 2 18 wheelers. It should be legal in all states. |
