The CB fits me so well I have no problem with a 400 mile day but everyone is different and if I was taller I'm not sure I would be comfy on a long day.

In 1980 I did my first big road trip (1500 mi.) on a KZ400 Tongue

I've only owned standard bikes, so I probably just don't know any better. I've done several 3500 milers on the CB750 and last summer did a 2000 mile Rockies tour on the CB11. If it's got wheels and will do highway speeds, it works for me.

New bike looks incredible. Enjoy! Wish they sold that here.

20,000+ non-fairing miles on my CB1100, Jeff. Three long trips of over 1500 miles each and several 500 mile weekends. Not a speck of corrosion anywhere. Pretty happy with the CB1100 as a touring bike. All the same, though, this CBF probably would have been my bike had it been available in the US and in 2013.

Nobody could say, I didn't try hard. Big Grin

During the last 16 month I put 30,000 km on my CB1100 and did a SaddleSore 1000 successfully (1,000 miles in 24 hours). Thumbs Up

I must say I am shocked by the corrosion on the ABS ring and the flaking paint on the engine. Django, did you use any commercial cleaners on a regular basis? Could that be the source of the problem?

No, I washed very carefully and used only shampoo for washing and Nevrdull for the chrome parts. Did wax the tank from time to time.

My CB is not the only one, suffering from those quality issues. We have a couple of `13 CBs here in Germany, showing this flaking at the engine and that rust at the ABS ring.

My Honda dealership told me, there was a series in 2013 production, where there were problems with cleaning the cylinder before the paint job. That's the reason, why Honda offers, to completely exchange the cyclinder for free, if you're in warranty. However, I don't like the idea, to make such an intrusive change to the engine and I prefer to give it back to the dealership and buy another one.

But don't ask me about the loss...

That sounds like a likely explanation. Most of the bikes that I've heard about having that problem are Euro market '13 models. They would have been part of the same run on the production line.

Congrats on the new bike, Django! That CBF1000F is a real beauty.

My new ride arrived at the dealership. I guess, I get it to the road next week. Excited
