I have a standing offer to buy a buddy's pristine XR1200r with 6K miles and some high end performance parts on it. The XR is the one Harley I could own. In the pic below it appears that the Roadster was sitting even on the ground vs leaning somewhat on the kickstand like in the pic shown previously in this thread. From that aspect the red Roadster has a more appealing profile to me. The short fenders would need to be addressed. For what this bike is designed to be used for the 3.4 gallon tank is adequate. Of course, until you're actually sitting on and riding it it's impossible to draw any real conclusions about whether one would like it or not.

If I owned this particular Harley it would have raised white letter tires, the seat would be recovered in dark brown leather, the tank would be pulled off and chromed and then have the 2015 Iron Harley lettering in red on the sides, the fenders would be the Iron 883 style from 2015 with both of them painted red. While riding it I would have on a shirt that said on the front and back "My other Bike is a CB1100"

The gentleman in the link bought his in England so the bike he got was different than what was available to us in the same time frame. The R model that we got was available over seas (and still is, is my understanding) for a long time before it was brought here.

The XR was available for a year prior before it was sold here...yep.. The bike in the article is a xl not a XR...

For anyone how wants to try this conversion

http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2004-xl1200r-harley-davidson-sportster-2500.1143054/

Advrider has a xl1200r (not a xr1200), basically the same bike for $2500..

If I didn't have one HD already, I'd be doing it...
