It's nearly 40 years old and neither rare nor collectible. Seems overpriced to me but if you have to have it, life is short! Yes the V30 was chain drive. Aesthetically I thought it looked the most well-balanced and proportional of the three. RE: 1980 XS850...one of my unicorns - misterprofessionality - 04-16-2019 it's funny you guys should mention the honda V4's....the V65 Sabre is one of my other unicorns. I can't seem to find one of those in good shape near me either. a few wrecked ones have popped up, but nothing suitable for a know-nothing pretend mechanic like me. In some research I did a while back, the V4 put into the VF500F Interceptor may have had better oiling and other high-rpm enhancements absent in the version put into the V30 Magna. RE: 1980 XS850...one of my unicorns - misterprofessionality - 04-16-2019 i'm not sure if that's mud or just discoloration from years of not being cleaned lol. it is dirty though. my first thought was that i'd have to take it apart and deep clean the entire thing part for part. RE: 1980 XS850...one of my unicorns - misterprofessionality - 04-16-2019 holy cow. big update. i found the bike on the Charlotte CL https://charlotte.craigslist.org/mcy/d/charlotte-1980-yamaha-850-special-make/6853096981.html for over $400 less. I also accessed his cellphone number that way, and i'm finally getting some answers. I remember when the VF500F was the hottest in-demand bike for a few years. Every kid wanted one. I am not a full-fairing crotch-rocket type of rider, but I always liked the brilliance of the once famed Honda Interceptor. Nice memory lane moment Stichill.
