Hotel marketers are well aware of the aging demographic and the greatest personal source of monetary wealth ever experienced in any generation. They also realize that the retiring/retired generation who have access to this wealth and, for all intents and purpose, have everything they need. Thus these folks turn to travel. Hotel marketing's desire to tap into this trough of equity is no surprise. Prices have been steadily rising and will continue to do so until the current retired generation (and probably the next) have passed on and demand then maybe declining. In a world of reverse mortgages, it is no surprise many wish to milk the retiring generation. This includes: Insurance companies, municipal taxation, resorts, travel, retirement residences, etc.
Possible flip-side benefit: As the current generation ages and weens off two-wheeled modes of transportation, demand declines (as it is now) and general prices for those vehicles flatten or decline - or one gets more for the same price. Of course, prices for three and four-wheels personal transportation will likely inflate as their demand increases.

So, hot-swappable batteries would benefit all if available infrastructure is practical.
