I know this thread is old and everything, but I thought it would be better to post this here rather than start a new thread.
I found out about Motul 300V from INTP, beginning on this thread I think... Anyway I bought and started using Motul 300V 15W 50 on my CB1100 and I bought the Motul 4T 7100 20W 50 for my 2004 Triumph Speedmaster.
Thing is, though, when I got the bike dyno'd, the tech suggested I change my oil and severely insisted I use Amsoil. Later on I stumbled upon this "A Study of Motorcycle Oils." Published on at least 2 different dates it shows why Amsoil is the BEST and why 2 different kinds of 300V and Motul 4T7100 are all awful.
Now I think the fact that Amsoil made this research makes it suspect, so I didn't just go and throw out all my Motul. I wanted to ask how you guys think Motul compares to Amsoil? I asked the internet and couldn't get a good result. I'm trying to decide what I want to put in my 2007 Triumph Sprint ST.

Just follow the advice in your owner's manual and you'll be good to go. No use making it anymore difficult than that. Good luck!

omg the word choise, "awfull"
how can 100% synthetic oil thats offically used by Honda and Yamaha be "awfull"?
A big Honda center here only uses Motul oil for their bikes.
I just used Motul 4T 7100 oil on my latest oil change.
but why you did not use 10W30 or 10W40 is beyond me, the manual clearly states 10W30 (10W40 is acceptable)

The two MOST important aspects of oil in an engine are...1) That you're running the correct AMOUNT and 2) That you change it when the manufacturer says you need to, or more frequently.
I have NEVER in 35+ years had an issue with modern internal combustion engines needing rings replaced out of all the weed whackers/chainsaws/ mowers/garden tractors/motorcycles/cars and trucks I've owned while adhering to these two basic principles.

Thanks for the responses. Basically, Motul good, right? I just needed to make sure that was the consensus. I posed this same query to my Triumph forum and they were very helpful in their thorough responses, which basically came to the same conclusion that there's nothing wrong with Motul no matter what Amsoil says in their "study." That'll do it for me, thanks.

Riko, if you look at that "A Study of Motorcycle Oils" that I refer to, you would see where it has charts/graphs and numbers to show how brilliant Amsoil is and how inadequate Motul is. Like I said, I suspected that this report was rigged and now that I have your feedback, I will continue to trust and use Motul.
Oh, and for why I went for 15W50 and not 10W40 it's because of the HARSH riding conditions in Hawaiian traffic. All that idling and clutch riding in traffic wants a heavier oil so as not to overheat quickly.

Most likely the tech who dyno'd your bike is a commissioned Amsoil reseller and would be happy to sell you a few quarts out of the trunk of his car.
