Cleaning question - Cormanus - 01-29-2014 OMG! What a dreadful dilemma it would be. Sitting by the side of the road. Bike in strife;,needing oil; and a single can of Guinness. All to the bike? All to me? Half each? It's strange stuff, Guinness. In the 70s I worked briefly in a pub in rural Ireland where, amongst other things, I learned to pour Guinness on tap. The tap had two positions—the first put the head on the beer and required less than a second before flicking to the second position which added the black magic. At 3/4 full you had to let it sit so the whole brew could settle before finishing it off. There was a thirsty chap used to come in after work every day for 3 pints on the way home. The first would be gone before I could finish pouring the second. I'm not sure that has anything to do with motorcycling in general or the CB1100 in particular, but it seems one must always carry a can of Guinness when riding. Just in case. (Edited to correct ridiculous spelling mistake) RE: Cleaning question - Pterodactyl_imp - 01-29-2014 Ahhh...........BEER. There are no bad ones, just some better than others. Once I would have agreed with you Pterodactyl, but I drank one recently with a very high alcohol content and it was disgusting! Sadly, I can't remember what it was called. RE: Cleaning question - rboe - 01-29-2014 Wow! That WAS high alcohol content......... ![]() Have never been a big beer fan and gave on the whole drinking thing years ago. Was able to afford other bad habits because of that.
RE: Cleaning question - mike delligatta_imp - 01-30-2014 comet soft scrub.....with or with out lemon lol! it works! RE: Cleaning question - GoldOxide_imp - 02-08-2019 Whatever the sludge was, its physical-chemical structure would have changed by the time your pipes cooled down. It may not respond to popular gunk removal solvents, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Carefully razor blade scrape the excess off. Use a respectable metal cleaner get the last 1% off. Finish up with your favourite chrome/stainless cleaner/protector and crisply chilled can of ale. |
