Maybe it was implied in the thread, but couldn't detect it:
Including an oil filter change, the whole jug (e.g. Honda GN4 10W40) goes in, oil window is full, start the engine and run for about a minute, turn off and let the oil settle. I seem to always end with a proper oil level result while on center stand on level ground.
Note: My engine is still warm to the touch from a previous warm-up prior to pan draining.
