Interesting find Cormanus. One giant bike condom.

You might want to put a dessicant in with the bike to make sure condensation was gobbled up.

And on the lighter side of all the very good advice which i totally agree with, there are many 2014 bikes around that were stored for 4 years in the Honda stores before being sold in 2018 with no complaints, only thing done for shipping is a disconnected battery. and yes, some experienced some flat tyre spots but most were fine.

Here is an unboxing video about how Honda bikes are typically shipped and stored;

You would think they would protect the tank more.

That’s a nice looking bike being unboxed

I was going to suggest the Vac-u-bag, available here in the UK, but Cormanus beat me to it!
If you decide to do lots of small 'tricks' to stop rodents or other intrusions, make a list of what you've done so you don't gaily ride off in two years time with rattling mothballs in the air cleaner, one exhaust blocked, brakes disconnected or whatever!!
Personally,, and I'm almost loathe to mention it, have you considered selling it now for the best price, saving the money and the storage and other costs, then reinvesting in a newer Honda in two or three years time?

That is a good way to put it! Certainly better than saying, "body bag" unzipping. Tongue

It's cool to see how bikes are shipped, but frightening how little the guy unboxing the bike knows about the process of prepping it. A real tech with experience would not look so befuddled when unboxing the small parts. Maybe that is the son of the dealership owner because I can't imagine a person with that little knowledge being allowed by a service manager to touch that bike, unless nobody could stop him.

Thank goodness the dealership is ultimately responsible for the safety certificate once the machine is completely assembled. It would suck to have say the front wheel fall off in the the customer's hand - although, I have heard something similar has happened and subsequently the garage "tech" fired.
