RE: Batteries ..ugghh - MagnaRider - 10-22-2024 Do they not salt/sand the roads in Ohio during winter at all? If this winter ends up like last one I'd definitely keep riding throughout the winter but Wisconsin/Minnesnowta dump insane amounts of salt on the roads and it just eats vehicles alive. RE: Batteries ..ugghh - peterbaron - 10-23-2024 I do winter riding as well but only use my standard when the DLX is in hibernation. After snowfall, certain conditions must be met: the roads are dry and there is no white salty powder, the radius is a maximum of 100 km... but this winter might be my last or not so often as before??? RE: Batteries ..ugghh - tdbru - 10-23-2024 I put this in my '14 std: LFX19A4 Shorai Lithium Motorcycle Battery I've had Shorai's in all the bikes (3 others). Oldest is approaching 10years old I think, maybe older. over the winter I'll use the shorai charger set on storage. So far I've had no issues and am pleased with the reliability. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself. -tdbru RE: Batteries ..ugghh - the Ferret - 10-26-2024 Today I picked up a Japanese made Yuasa. Shop owner gave me a good deal on it. On the trickle charger now. Probably go in the bike tomorrow. Should be good until I'm at least 78 years old now lol RE: Batteries ..ugghh - the Ferret - 10-29-2024 Weather got cold and didn't get the battery in for a couple of days. Was 36 degrees when I woke up yesterday morning, don't think it ever made it to 50. Warmer weather today, 79 as I type, so just went out to the garage and installed the new battery and the CB lives again. Yea! ![]() Probably take it for a short ride after dinner. Been 15 days since it's had any exercise. RE: Batteries ..ugghh - the Ferret - 10-29-2024 26 mile after dinner ride with Mrs Ferret on her X Max 300 @ 71 degrees and clear. Always a pleasure to ride the CB. Sun was setting as we pulled onto our street. Boy it gets dark early these days. DST will make it even worse come Saturday night. The cheapo one I bought off Amazon 2 years ago has so far held out. In general the NW w/out the extreme heat and cold seems to be gentle on motorcycle batteries. RE: Batteries ..ugghh - the Ferret - 10-29-2024 Only dropped one of the battery bolts twice, but was able to retrieve it from the recesses with one of those long magnetic tools. Not much room for hands, cables and tools down in the bottom of that battery box. Miss the days of batteries being right up under the seat or under a side cover that can be removed without tools. RE: Batteries ..ugghh - the Ferret - 10-30-2024 Great idea m in sc. That would have made it a lot easier for sure RE: Batteries ..ugghh - pdedse - 10-31-2024 (10-30-2024, 10:20 PM)m in sc_imp Wrote: https://www.amazon.com/Felo-0715750078-Phillips-Screwdriver-Gripper/dp/B000E60ODS That's...cheating! |
