Thanks to all of you who have responded. WildGuzzi is a great site. Maybe some day a Guzzi will be in my future. I am not adverse to having three motorcycles (3 is my limit!). For now my Suzuki and a CB ought to do it for me. Bad dealers certainly enter in to the equation. I learned this through the many years I rode BMW's. A friend of a friend recently bought the new Guzzi retro model 750 (V7?) so I will follow his experiences.
With the reliability of all of the Japan brands, European brands just don't have much of a draw on me any more. I can't find anything not to like about the CB1100. Except for the possibility of the Moto Guzzi, none of them come close to the Japanese bikes IMO.

My CB is quite a bit faster than my 77 KZ1000 but they do seem to be very much alike.
Almost more alike than the CB is to any older Honda... wierd.

I'm a big fan of Top Gear on BBC America. They're always testing the latest supercars; oohing and awing over their stunning 0 to 60 times of 6.2 seconds, or 4.3 seconds, or a "mind-bending 3.9 seconds. The CB will do it in 3.3. For about the cost of one monthly insurance payment on an Aventador.

This is what I'm talking about when I say the CB11 hauls ass. Yeah there are faster motorcycles but Corvette ZO6s and ZR1s are really fast cars and the CB11 absolutely humiliates them away from a stoplight or down a two lane freeway on ramp. It probably feels even faster to me because this is about as much motorcycle as this 57 year old man can handle at WOT. Cheers.

The KZ 900, the GS 1000 and the XS 11 all equal - the UJM.
Which is what Honda created with the original CB 750.
I had a '70 CB 750 when I was drafted and the last new Japanese bike I bought was the '78 XS 11.
The new CB evokes all of them. The UJM humbled the best Euro bikes in performance and showed the world what reliable meant. I guess that's why we ride it.
