I've talked to about half a dozen dealers and they thought it was a good seller for a niche bike. As a niche bike, it was never expected to sell in large numbers like the more mainstream bikes.
Honda spent nearly 3 years getting this bike through the DOT, EPA and CARB approvals. I'd be surprised if they didn't bring it back for another year.
As I recall, last year the CB1100 was announced several weeks after the rest of the 2013 lineup. It came as a surprise to me.

It's fine for all of us to speculate but I just can't understand why it isn't as simple as a phone call or e-mail to Honda for any dealership.

Well, my dealer told me that he sometimes gets information faster on the internet than from Honda.

If the CB1100 returns to North America for 2014, I'm guessing that it will be with no changes from this year. Honda has put out some press fodder for their 2014 street lineup changes, including different paint color offerings for various models. I've seen no such mention for the CB1100 or any mention of the CB1100 for 2014 for that matter. A bit of a bummer for a bike that generated some pretty good press coverage this year and sales that were probably in line with Hondas expectations for a niche bike such as this. I guess that only time will tell at this point.

A quick detour back to the original topic - foot controls.
The Buell footpegs are relatively inexpensive and lower the ride position by a full inch. While they require some filing to fit, they don't interfere with the side stand. The extra leg room makes for a very relaxed ride.
I took them off after several rides to save my boots. They are just too low for anything more than gentle cornering.
I ordered a set of SP Takegawa footpegs from Takashi. Nearly 3 times the cost as the Buells. However, unlike the Buells which appear to be cast aluminium, the SP Takegawa units are clearly machined with nice sharp edges.
They are designed to adjust peg height up, forward and backward, but not lower. I guess that makes sense for the Japanese marketplace.
With some grinding and fitting then can be made to operate in a lower position. However in full low position they interfere with the side stand loop.
I ended up moving them forward and lower, approximately 0.3" in both directions. Now the sidestand doesn't make contact, although the access to the sidestand loop is blocked. Instead you have to engage the end of the sidestand- surprisingly quick, easy and natural.
I absolutely love them. Such a small difference in position seems to make a big difference. They feel great, look great and provide a super solid grip.

I bought some vario adjustable foot pegs for my CB1000.
They are made in Germany,very high quality and expensive.
It was very easy to put them on and also easy to adjust :higher,lower,forward and back.
What I did find however that the brake and gear pedal should be adjusted as well to get the most benefit,this is more of a fiddle.
Did you have to adjust the gear and brake pedals on your CB1100,I would love to have slightly lower pegs as I am 6 ft.

You're absolutely right. Adjustment is important. The shift pedal has a lot of adjustment. Brake pedal not so much. It was still too high for me at its lowest setting with the Buells.
It sounds like you got the GSG pegs - top of the line stuff. I was put off by the "wait 5 weeks" disclaimer on the website, but those pegs are clearly superior. Did you get the 22mm, 30mm, or 50!!mm offsets?

I bought the Vario adjustable foot pegs from Twisted Trottle and received them in 4 days.
You can buy the brackets for the different make of bikes,than the length you want and than the type of pegs you prefer.
I bought the 30 mm ones for my CB1000,an other forum member of the CB1000 had bought the 50 mm ones but that was way too much.
This weekend I will try if the bracket will fit the CB1100 (Honda seems to have similar foot pegs fitments to many of their bikes )
The problem could still be the adjustments to gear and brake levers,it would be easy if they were just on a spline.
The Vario Pegs are very well made but close to $200 a set.
