RE: are all honda products this good - rboe - 03-27-2015 Oh yes, made much better today (by the way, my Honda XR650L has been my most unreliable vehicle I've ever had, burnt up the motor with a dealer twisted oil line, ECU was low bid POS -- known issue, head gets too hot and ruins oil unless you add a cooler, pulse generator went up, another common issue, oiy, I need to add a steering damper). Meh, I'm a sucker for punishement. RE: are all honda products this good - gossman_imp - 03-27-2015 I've owned a lot of products including a 20 year old generator and a lawn mower. The only crappy Honda I've ever owned was a 2002 8 hp boat motor that was a constant problem. Motorcycles and atv's were always very dependable. BTW, I have fishing buddies that never had an issue with their Honda boat motors. RE: are all honda products this good - uscgmac_imp - 03-27-2015 I bought this bike because its different, old school cool and love the looks. The price was more than right, a 2014 STD. For 8200 new. Wanted a change from my other "second bike" still have a full touring bike too. But I have to say as far as the jap bikes go I feel Kawasaki really leads the pack and Yamaha is right there too. As far as all their line of bikes go they have a much larger selection and higher performance in every line. The cruiser lines of vulcans and star are great bikes and the sport bikes are outrageous. Honda is lacking compared to the two other companies. I've always been a kawi fan, if they came out with a Retro KZ1000 I would be all over it. I love my Honda and will try it out for a while and see how it goes. RE: are all honda products this good - CIP57_imp - 03-27-2015 Honda motorcycles out performs all the metric, if I nitpick Kawi has a better gearbox but FI on the Honda's are always spot-on. There small equipment motors are top of the line outlasting all other brands, its all I use for replacement. I've also had 4 Acura's without issue or any large repair tickets. I just bought German (AUDI) hope i have the same luck because those German models are big $$$$ to repair. A close friend and A-1 mechanic who owns his own shop told me to sell the Audi just before the warranty runs out
RE: are all honda products this good - Scudrunr_imp - 03-28-2015 My garage is nearly all Honda right now, the CB, an '00 Accord, and a '15 CRV( WITH A CVT BTW). I just sold an accord with 280k and expect it to go well past 300. I have had issues here and there, but I love the product and enjoy good reliability, and excellent resale value. I go to a local auto show every year, and the Toyota's and Hondas are the only ones that feel "right" to me RE: are all honda products this good - canyonwlf7_imp - 03-28-2015 Thinking about trading my Road King in on a 2014 Honda Ctx1300, I think I may have the Honda bug

It was a big hit in Europe and Asia, but predictably, not popular in the U.S. It only lasted a couple of years here. They resurrected the KZ550/750/1100 under the Zephyr name. Zephyr 1100
RE: are all honda products this good - Siggy Javotnik_imp - 03-28-2015 I came from a Chevy (mostly truck) rural family. Then my dad bought a little Honda generator that was quiet, started easily no matter how long we let it sit, and worked flawlessly. Then I got my first road bike in the 90's, a '79 CB650 with about 40,000 miles. I rode it to 60,000 with basic home maintenance. I was riding year-round in Portland, OR, which incidentally made that bike very happy -- she liked to be run, and fairly hard (she hated short shifting). After that pleasant experience, I found a 190,000 mile Honda Accord in the paper and ran it until kids came along, then replaced it with an '06 Accord that now has ~100k. I love the car's "Maintenance Minder" light that alerts you to maintenance needs -- so far, I've never had to take it to the shop for service, because the maintenance is so simple I can do it at home (e.g., change oil, cabin filter, oil and air filters). I did visit Oil Can Henry's for the ATF change, but that was while I sat in the car reading the paper for a few minutes. Also, the VTEC and hydraulically adjusted valves in that Accord are pretty nice. I'm sold on Honda's, but it was that '79 CB650 what done it. It was a much nicer bike than my first bike, a Kawasaki KE125, that I'd had in my teen years. Although the KE125 2-stroke would be an ideal hipster bike these days! It could actually have been on Portlandia. Who am I kidding, they'd use a Yamaha DT. I will say that the 1980's chain driven cam Interceptors didn't seem like a robust design and were a pain to try to get into. Thank God carbs are on their way out. Like points and breakers. Incidentally, that '79 CB650 had lovely, lovely, CDI ignition. |
