My wife of 60 years as of last week is profoundly handicapped from a stroke, cannot speak, is dizzy 24/7 in any waking moments, is paralyzed on one side and cannot get out of bed and yet is cheerful as a senior in high school whose love object just asked her to go steady..Yes, she is still in love, and of course, I too. Thank you for sharing that Bob. My wife and I are childhood sweethearts, got married at 19 years old and have been married for 47 years. Now that we are getting old and are still in love we think about the near future and what that may hold, but whatever it is it will be together. Little did we know what our love would mean to us in later years ![]() ralph RE: Advice sought please - the Ferret - 11-02-2015 Well, that was hard to read without tearing up. Good on you Bob, and your wife. RE: Advice sought please - Bokobob_imp - 11-02-2015 We are fortunate people and also grateful for abundant past mercies. I quite agree, ferret. Bokobob, you and your wife are mighty inspiring folks! Best to you both! fritz RE: Advice sought please - Cormanus - 11-02-2015 G'day Bokobob and a very warm welcome to this forum. Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure you'll enjoy the bike a great deal. I reckon the seat is not so good, and I use an AirHawk cushion when I ride the thing any distance. I'm with Ferret and FritzW: that's a sad but inspiring tale about your wife. Enjoy the bike and share some pictures when you can. RE: Advice sought please - redbirds_imp - 11-02-2015 God bless you both Bob. A true love story in real life. RE: Advice sought please - Rocky_imp - 11-02-2015 Hello Bob, I'm just catching up with this thread. I'm 78 and bought my CB last year. It's the best bike I have ever owned so I'm sure you will love it too. You will have to make up your own mind about the seat, but many find it a killer after an hour or so as I do. Most factory seats are that way so the CB isn't that much different. Unless you're into long distance touring for hours on end, you will probably get along with the seat fairly well. After an hour or so it's time for a break anyway. It depends on the individual and their tolerance for pain or discomfort. I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. My wife was in failing health for several years and I lost her two years ago. All the best and enjoy the CB RE: Advice sought please - Papa Weeley_imp - 11-03-2015 Wow, great story, and a very welcome new member to the CB1100 fold! All the best, and be safe out there! RE: Advice sought please - Bokobob_imp - 11-03-2015 Rode the bike a bit today...Weather kind of threatening and didn't want to go very far from home. It runs and rides like a dream, but you guys all know that already. I have some highly-adjustable kuryakyn pegs that I will attach to the frame beneath the engine so that I can get a change of posture when riding on the highway...These pegs will be a good foot and maybe 18 inches more forward from the rider pegs, which, of course, I 'll leave intact. Thank you all for your good wishes.. RE: Advice sought please - 4 Paws_imp - 11-03-2015 Enjoy the ride Bob. Love the K75 too, seriously considering picking one up to tinker with. |
