K and N have a CB1100 filter (KN-204). It has a hex extrusion which allows a spanner on it. Probably even a torque wrench if you have OCD. OCD or not, don't forget to apply a little oil to the O-ring before tightening.

Or use a "ripper gripper" like this:

As for oil. Why even ask. There is only one answer.

HUBRIS is a fully synthetic Omni Grade Motorcycle Oil. It is especially formulated for the CB1100. It is, despite being synthetic, a fully natural, grass fed, cholesterol and gluten free product. It is approved by the UNHCMO*, the IPCC and the CIA. It is guaranteed to eradicate and/or prevent engine noises, rattling, sputtering and vibration, frame rot, suspension chatter, brake binding, steering oscillatiions and other common CB maladies. A drop or two applied to the ECM will remove all limiters and result in massive increases in power and torque. It also may be effacious in the prevention of high side, low side and other rider induced moments. It is rumoured that a certain very successful MotoGP racer uses HUBRIS. To obtain Dr Dactyl's HUBRIS oil please send to Dr Dactyl your credit card details by Email. Large cash deposits can be made to my account at the Bank of Abuja, Nigeria. Be quick, it is in very short supply.

Cheers

The oil filter is tightened with a torque of 26 Nm. That's heck of a lot for an oil filter. The ones I have known so far get just tightened by hand.

You can order the Honda oil filter as a set of filter + hex nut, so you can use a standard tool and a torque wrench to mount that beast.

The Honda part# of the set is 15010-MCE-H51 and you can see it here, ref# 2:

The filter alone is ref# 13.

Django, you're right. Tightening a lubricated oil filter other than by hand, or simple tool as pictured above, is fraught with danger.
