RE: Bad start to the day - LongRanger_imp - 02-22-2016 I'm still kicking myself for not buying a tire mounting machine 20 years ago. It would have paid for itself several times over. Last summer I hit a bad pothole on my F800GT and severely damaged the front rim. The tire lost pressure immediately but remained at about 15 psi. I rode the bike home, 70 miles on the freeway, keeping it below 50 mph. I survived but the tire didn't. RE: Bad start to the day - 68lupe_imp - 02-26-2016 My tires came in yesterday I will get them put on Sat.It's a little late to ask ,but does anyone have PR 3's on a 2014 standard if so does the rear one fit ok.The rear size 160/60zr18 Thanks RE: Bad start to the day - the Ferret - 02-26-2016 Yes lots of people have them on 2010-2013's. No issues with clearance. RE: Bad start to the day - 68lupe_imp - 02-26-2016 (02-26-2016, 01:20 AM)The ferret_imp Wrote: Yes lots of people have them on 2010-2013's. I did not do this have not had a problem in 12,000 miles (mine is a 2013, but I think the clearances are the same.) RE: Bad start to the day - redbirds_imp - 02-26-2016 You'll not have any problem with clearances. RE: Bad start to the day - 68lupe_imp - 02-28-2016 Had the new PR3 tires put on yesterday & then took it for about a 40 mile ride. Hit some good turns & the bike felt really good. These tires make the bike feel more substantial, especially over bumps in the road. You guys were right regarding clearance...no issue at all. Checked pressure today, they were down a bit, maybe just tires settling in. Not sure what pressure they put in at shop so I aired em up - 36 in front/42 in rear - max pressure on both state 42. Should I keep the back at 42? Appreciate all the input that helped me come to decision. Thanks RE: Bad start to the day - the Ferret - 02-28-2016 68 I run mine at 38 front 40 rear. I think the 38 in the front helps keep it from cupping. The 40 in the rear just makes it a little softer going over bumps in road. others run the stock pressures as recommended. I think you will come to really like the tires. RE: Bad start to the day - redbirds_imp - 02-28-2016 I like to run mine at 34 front, 42 rear. The 120 I'm running up front shows hardly any wear thus far. RE: Bad start to the day - Randy B - 02-28-2016 I run the max pressure because I'm a bit on the hefty side of life. |
