RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - will866_imp - 12-29-2016 I like the '14 DLX especially considering what you could get a low mileage used one for now vs. what they will be asking for the '17. If anyone simply has to trade up from the '14 DLX to the '17 EX this spring, we should talk. RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - Elevenminusoneblade_imp - 12-29-2016 The veracity of the non-spoke-ites is surprising! Let's see... windshield or no? Not for me. I like it. Ok, it's a matter of opinion. New tank or old tank? I like it. I prefer the old tank. Ok, it's a matter of opinion. Now onto spokes. I like em. What? SPOKELESS WHEELS ARE SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY!!! Um, alright. (And I'm exaggerating a lot) If you're looking for someone to justify older technology turned stylistic point on an almost ridiculously impractical mode of transportation with anything other than "I prefer spokes," you'll be disappointed. That said, I prefer spokes and I always will no matter how many hours I need to slave, beer in hand, while listening to NPR and staying out of the wife's hair, in the garage, by myself, smiling and cleaning them and enjoying every minute of it, forever ![]() Concerning the poll. For me, it's a draw. I can't decide about the new tank until I see it in person. I prefer the green gauges on the '14 but the pipes are tighter (not more-hip, I mean actually closer to the engine) on the '17 for a cleaner look. The LEDs and the aluminum bits are an upgrade but the difference in price dwarfs that by a country mile. Now, the wheels, I prefer...wait...I won't get into that
RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - redbirds_imp - 12-30-2016 I voted EX. The DLX is gorgeous but the EX even better. As to spokes, a matter of personal taste no doubt but, to me, a mag style wheel looks better and is easy to make tubeless. Spokes belong on off road bikes where they serve a real function as "shock absorbers" for the wheels. Must admit that the spokes look fabulous on the EX. RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - CA200_imp - 01-03-2017 I am in the middle on this one, I wonder way no one has brought up that the new EX is back to the weight of the 13 or the 14Std. RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - Stichill - 01-03-2017 I'm not sure but I think the weight loss comes from the spoked wheels offsetting the 4:2 exhaust. RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - the Ferret - 01-03-2017 Its also not without suspicion that it's a typo. RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - Rolls_imp - 01-03-2017 I'm sure I read they shortened and lightened the duals. Too lazy to research it, though. Yet not bold enough to solicit you to just trust me on it, either.
RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - the Ferret - 01-03-2017 70 mm shorter, slightly smaller in circumference, then again it has ABS that the std doesn't which is usually 7-10 pounds of added weight RE: POLL - CB1100 DLX or CB1100 EX? - Rolls_imp - 01-03-2017 (01-03-2017, 01:49 PM)The ferret_imp Wrote: 70 mm shorter, slightly smaller in circumference, then again it has ABS that the std doesn't which is usually 7-10 pounds of added weight Thanks, ferret! I needed that! It'll be interesting to hear the new tone. I like the quiet of my '13, but I'm open to a different sonic signature. So many ways an in-line 4 can sound good. I thought it was a law of nature that loud pipes save lives.
