RE: Retro Helmets - emptysea - 02-28-2015 MG....you may be on to something with this helmet. Thanks....ya hooligan. RE: Retro Helmets - Grinton_imp - 02-28-2015 I like this http://www.bellhelmets.com/en_eu/powersports/helmets/street/bullitt Or this http://www.premier.it/en/collections/full-face/trophy-ck-white/ RE: Retro Helmets - flynrider - 02-28-2015 The Simpson isn't really a retro helmet per se. What they now call the Bandit has looked pretty much the same since the early 80s. My buddy had their black Model 30. We called it the Darth Vader helmet. Looks like the current version has fewer air vents up front, but the rest looks about the same. Model 30
RE: Retro Helmets - metallyguitarded_imp - 02-28-2015 I guess that depends on your definition of "retro." A helmet with a design that is pretty much the same as it was over 30 years ago seems to qualify in my book. Haha. There's also the Bell Star Classic: [url=http://s51.photobucket.com/user/jamesfontaine/media/Bell%20Classic.jpg.html] ![]() It's around $580 (ouch) and is Snell SA2010 certified. RE: Retro Helmets - emptysea - 02-28-2015 I wonder what the Simpson would look like without the face shield. If the mounting hinges are unobtrusive enough, I could see pairing it with some goggles, maybe adding some stripes....could look pretty cool, maybe. It appears that in English we refer to it as Padua. The photos of Padova look beautiful! Welcome to the forum! That premier helmet looks great. RE: Retro Helmets - emptysea - 02-28-2015 At $580, it should come with Steve McQueen's head in it. RE: Retro Helmets - metallyguitarded_imp - 02-28-2015 Now that would be a bargain at twice the price! I think... RE: Retro Helmets - Capo - 02-28-2015 I generally wear a Schuberth modular, but when I'm just going for a local ride along the beach, or a summer backroad run on one of the vintage bikes, I'll wear the Davida Jet and Halcyon goggle setup. But I wanted a full face modern helmet with a retro '70's vibe, and picked this one up...Bell Vortex in the Band Black graphic. A good deal at $179 - 10% dealer discount, and while it's a modern full- face, I think the groovy graphics go well with the CB and Bonneville. http://www.bellhelmets.com/powersports/helmets/street/vortex |
