Shoes my choice in helmets for many years. Bought an Arai at the urging of local dealership when it was time to replace my then older Shoei. Head shape important, Arai fit my wife quite well but was never comfortable for me.
Two years later bought an HJC modular, very comfortable. Love the pinlock system and the retractable sun visor. Bit louder than a high quality full coverage (I do wear ear plugs) but so convient. Glasses easy on / off, swig of water at a light, fill-up with gas and leave helmet on. Modular "hinge" acted up after about 30 months into 36 month warranty. Full replacement, no cost to me - at all. save your receipts.
Aware of safety questions but police here wear them so must be at least acceptable.
Will go Shoei Neotec next time. Excellent brand, good quality. Good choice.

Police around here still ride around in short sleeve shirts and the little half-helmet brain buckets, so I am not sure that I would use them as a safety yardstick.
