RE: 2018 cb1100rs first impressions... - KiowaEagle_imp - 06-22-2018 To me the difference between the ‘17 and ‘14 came down to pure aesthetics. I really didn’t want the abs brakes or slipper clutch and although the larger tank did appeal to me I didn’t want red. I already have a red kawi. Plus I didn’t like that the side covers don’t match. So the blacked out ‘14 just made sense to me and I personally think the all black looks bad azz. While the RS has some things to like, I'd be surprised if it makes its way to the US. I get the impression that the EX is not doing that well in the US market. It has a pretty high msrp for a standard (or some say retro) bike, no doubt due to all the high quality components and finishes--but it makes it a hard sell. This is especially so with all the leftover CB1100s being offered new for thousands less than a new EX. For me personally, I would have chosen the EX over the RS even if we could buy an RS in the States, because it's what I wanted. That is why I paid all the extra money for an EX over a new from the crate leftover earlier bike. I suppose getting seduced by beauty with expensive consequences can happen with bikes too..... My deal on the 2017 EX is $12K OTD. Not sure what is in there, but something like: Bike $10,000 Sales Tax $770 Tag and title $160 Dealer Fee $1,070 I suspect if I went in there with $11K I could make a deal. Maybe $11,500. Especially when you find yourself admiring the bike in your garage a year from now. Two years from now. Five years from now. |
