RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - Mandrau_imp - 10-31-2017 There are no words yet words are all I have. My sorrow and condolences to Suzanne, Steve, her family and you, Long Ranger. It makes me ponder my own mortality on this somber Hallows Eve. May the long time Sun shine upon her, All love surround her, And the pure Light within her, Guide her way home... RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - the Ferret - 10-31-2017 Any updated info on this LR? RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - Stichill_imp - 11-01-2017 I have been away from this board recently, and just ran across this sad news, LR. Very upsetting circumstances for all riders, even more so for you personally. A family of five was recently killed in their car on a 2-lane Kentucky road when an impatient guy in a pickup decided to pass at high speed across the double yellow, on a curve, on a hill and struck them head-on. Nothing can protect us against that kind of extreme, wanton, mindless negligence. RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - LongRanger_imp - 11-02-2017 Guys, thanks for the condolences. Much appreciated. The only update I've had since the accident (well, it really wasn't an "accident" in my book) is that the guy was DUI. I don't know what his blood alcohol level was but in this state, DUI is not a felony until it's your third offense. He'll probably get a few years probation. Even though it's been cold and snowy here the past few weeks, I can tell you I've lost my spirit for riding. RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Is *that* not a felony, whether first, second, *or* third? RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - hb9400_imp - 11-02-2017 Losing people we care about unexpectedly can knock anyone for a loop. The only thing to be thankful for is that she passed away quickly and didn't linger in pain. Though our hobby makes us easy targets that person could have down horrible damage to another vehicle as well. Why people ignore their responsibility to others by drinking and driving just amazes me. RE: Vigilance isn't enough. Please be safe. - Cbgaz_imp - 11-02-2017 Sorry to hear about tragically losing your friend longranger. Very sad. Hope the culprit gets what they deserve. Gaz. Vigilance and gear aren't always enough. |
