RE: Another new fuel record tonight - redbirds_imp - 11-10-2018 Mileage varies by the conditions you ride in. In a rural setting, mine, mileage is better and brakes hold up better also. My worst mileage recorded was about 48 mpg and my best around 55 mpg. As for brakes, nearing 20K and still have plenty of pad material showing. I've gone 220 miles with the light blinking. The gas in CA is JUCK....CRAP....(#@*$^&$#.....whatever you want to call it. What's the elevation difference? I wonder if that could be contributing... About 700'. That wouldn't account for the massive difference in fuel economy. RE: Another new fuel record tonight - Roper_imp - 11-11-2018 You're right. It wouldn't even be measurable. I moved from TX to UT last year. The elevation change of 5000 ft. made a difference. Not huge, but noticeable. I typically have between 50 and 60 kms. AU2O3 ... really? I have never seen anything approaching that. I kid you not. The conditions were unreal ... and not downhill. Recently I have not been able to replicate. This summer I had a day at 4.6L/100. Keep in mind, this is not mixed riding. This is country bumpkin cruising - you know? ... some quality cruising stuff. Ya - scooter scary stuff. I only use regular octane 87 (North American rating). RE: Another new fuel record tonight - the Ferret - 11-13-2018 Not sure what it would be in liters or KMs but I average 57 mpg on my CB and have gotten as high as 64 mpg on 87 octane 10% ethanol (and I got some ridiculous gas mileage like 72 mpg out riding in the Rockies with Long Ranger) lol if you notice in the pic, I'm averaging nearly 52 mpg on my 1300cc, 650 pound, 145 hp FJR. That's a range of 340 miles on it's 6.6 gallon tank although the farthest I have gone so far is 275 miles. Also on 87 octane 10% ethanol. Then again, as you know, I am a pretty conservative rider. There are guys on the FJR board that average 36 mpg. That's a pretty large spread between 36 and 52 on the same motorcycle. ![]() Then again there are guys that only get 3000 miles out of a set of tires, and some that get 10,000 miles out of the same tire. It's all in the right wrist. RE: Another new fuel record tonight - alprider - 11-13-2018 i guess i had never more as 4.3l with my 6speed CBs.....just normal 3.9-4.1l speedlimit here outside villages/town : 80km/50ml my country is just a single agglomeration..after 4 steps you are already i the next village....and bcos we are overpopulatet we have a lot traffic still everywehere.....if you plan a trip with 200km , tell them you will be there in 3 hours (without rushhour).. and if i jump to the germany "blackforest" place that looks like a roller coaster up /down left right and if i drive with fun so i have in principle the same consumption ! why ? bcos if you give short fine (maybe not necessarily extra full) throttle so sucks in relation much more air.... and of course after the acceleration still again very quick switch in a highest possible speed/gear .... btw. with my 1800 goldwing i need very seldom littel bit over 5L...most 4.8-4.9l ...( 4.7-4.8 in the past 1500ccm) RE: Another new fuel record tonight - alprider - 11-13-2018 ferret 340 miles on it's 6.6 gallon tank means for me, consumption: 4.1l for 100km |
