Too bad you couldn’t have coordinated with one of the Grand Coulee Dam tours. A dam and powerhouse of that magnitude is really impressive. Thanks suhawk! Yes, would have liked to do the dam tour, but as with most of my mc trips, I don't plan things out too well--that's made all the difference at times and it's made me miss some things I'm sure. ![]() But really, I'm only 6 hours away, so I'll leave the tour for next time with family. Last bit...97 meets up with 14 which I would take west to Hood River, where I would cross over. Several nice wineries out here... ![]() Buffalo! ![]() Viewpoint looking east. Just two and half days prior and I was on I-84 on the opposite (Oregon) side of the river just beginning my trip. It was time to enjoy the other half of my Subway sandwhich and I had the area to myself. Coal train exiting tunnel, bottom left: ![]() Crossed back into Oregon and Hood River is just an hour from my house in Gresham. There were still a few windsurfers on the river taking advantage of the late afternoon daylight. And then all too sudden...one arrives home. Thursday I spent the day unpacking, cleaning the chain, putting things away. The CB1100 now has 6500 miles on it and has performed flawlessly (except that front brake squeal!) in the one.five years I've had it. Sometimes I ask why my '14 Standard had to develop the high/low idle issues that it did. I'd still have that bike if not for that. Things mechanical simply have problems...as well as the human body--still holding up, so that's good, but a bit sore after the 450 mile return home. Can still feel the right hip, have to get the doc to look at it...eventually. Classes start up Monday, but I should have time to do another NW ride during August or early September. Thanks for the comments and taking an interest in my brief, beautiful trip. Time to take the helmet off, and rest some.
