RE: Oregon coast - Cormanus - 04-17-2021 A great report, pdedse. I like marinas too, but I like boats even more. Well, now when you visit we can go riding and later muck around on the Columbia River as I'm fortunate to have a small 17' ski boat...it's showing its age, but still sound. RE: Oregon coast - Cormanus - 04-17-2021 That sounds like a wonderful offer. Thank you. My wife and I have just bought a 32' sail boat so, when you visit, I can reciprocate, albeit more slowly. RE: Oregon coast - GoldOxide_imp - 04-17-2021 The hits keep comin' - that's wonderful pdedse. RE: Oregon coast - koehlerk_imp - 04-18-2021 Great looking trip! I used to be a park ranger at Cape Lookout State Park. Part of your ride took you on the Three Capes Scenic route which doesn't quite make a perfect loop because of that road washout beyond Cape Meares Lighthouse (which happened so frequently they've stopped repairing it). The great photo of the bike overlooking Netarts Bay from the edge of Cape Lookout is at a place many a car have gone off the road (some intentionally unfortunately). Did you see a wind sock there? It's also a paraglider launch site, although more launch at Oceanside now. There is a great hike that takes you out to the end of the Cape Lookout through old growth sitka spruce with some WWII history included. https://www.beachconnection.net/news/bomber071716_715.php https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Cape_Lookout_Hike RE: Oregon coast - pdedse - 04-18-2021 (04-18-2021, 02:34 AM)koehlerk_imp Wrote: Great looking trip! Park ranger!...That's very cool. Thanks for the links. I'll be sure to pack my tennis the next time so that I can do that hike. And thanks for the info on the closure...it looked like it had been closed for some time. |
