I know with Photobucket you don’t have to resize anything. Just put pics on PB and copy the link and paste it here and it magically is the right size.

Same with imgur.com. I upload the full size photo and they take care of the rest. It's also nice that if someone does want to see the larger image, they can just click on the photo in the post and they'll get an Imgur pop up with the full size pic.

Stichill can correct me, but I’m not sure you even need to reduce the file size before you upload to Imgur. You certainly don’t with Postimage. Using a hosting site also saves the rest of us from those images that are so large they take over the screen and render text unreadable.

I'm amazed that site is back up. It went dark for a while, didn't it? All the pics I'd hosted there went dark too. But I just logged in with my years-old login and all my pics are still there!

You're right, one of its great features is automatically offering up an array of images sizes to link to after uploading.

With imgur, I usually resize as a courtesy to make this site load faster with less data usage. Also if you click on the image to see it full screen, I think if it's a huge file you'd only see about 25% of it when you double click.

I didn’t know that. I think I signed on when Photobucket wanted ridiculous amounts of money to join and, as far as I know, it’s worked fine since. I like it better than Imgur.
