RE: I do not like ABS - Cormanus - 08-20-2019 It may be great fun going around and around and around discussing whether or not ABS is a good thing or whether we're as or more skilled than it, but Max pointed to an important concern [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14666&pid=247713#pid247713]here: there is a possibility that the ABS on motoRat's bike is malfunctioning. That should surely be investigated? RE: I do not like ABS - juliang_imp - 08-20-2019 my 2014 CB1100 doesn't have ABS. My 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 did. I am ok without it to be honest. I also have a 2019 Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor that does have it and it has really unobtrusive in that bike, fuel injection has been really smooth too. Maybe motorcycle electronics have improved since 2015? However I test rode a Kawasaki Z900rs last Friday and the back brake was a wooden and unresponsive as the 2015 Versys so I am still on the fence RE: I do not like ABS - ohiorider_imp - 08-20-2019 I read through many of the same conversations when BMW rolled out their 1st generation ABS system on their 1988 K100RS/ABS sport tourer. It's difficult to see the same discussion resurface after 30 years of improved ABS technology. RE: I do not like ABS - Gone in 60 - 08-20-2019 Regarding ABS operation, does the CB require a “bleed down” during fluid replacement? BMW needs this, which is basically performing a standard bleed, then cycling the ABS pump to release air that might be trapped in the system, then bleeding again. BMW specific tools allow the consumer to cycle the pump and avoid the dealership. Is this necessary on a Honda ABS? Could air be trapped in the ABS? I’m a bit split on ABS. My last bike, an ‘07 BMW, was my first that had it. Honestly not sure if I ever felt it engage while riding. But, despite religious adherence to the proper fluid replacement interval and procedure, my ABS system failed, and due to the CAN Bus system, this also disabled other essential systems on the bike. Replacement parts and labor were prohibitively expensive, leading me to sell it for my non-ABS CB. RE: I do not like ABS - Lord Popgun - 08-20-2019 The service manual does not require any cycling of the ABS pump for bleeding. Same for the ST1300 ABS, not that it really matters here though. RE: I do not like ABS - the Ferret - 08-20-2019 Mine is getting a clutch and brake bleed tomorrow in anticipation of the rally. Been 22,000 miles. Kinda got away from me. Last had it done 2 years ago at 24,000 miles. RE: I do not like ABS - GoldOxide_imp - 08-20-2019 (+1) ABS. Seen its action as few times. No complaints. RE: I do not like ABS - motoRAT_imp - 08-20-2019 come on guys, I'm not going to cut wires, big leap from that to pulling the plug on the hospital ![]() I just said that I dislike the ABS thanks for all the advice given, it's good to know different opinions and different riding styles result in different operating situations so let's go for a and a

So, before going for the wires, I'd check the phonic-wheels for dirt, and I'd also check the tyre pressures. Also: if you are in a slope, your tyre loads shift. If you are downhill, you must use mainly your front brake (as the front is the most loaded tyre). If you are uphill, you must use your rear brake (even just for holding the bike still on a very inclined uphill slope). Otherwise, if you put most braking effort on the most unloaded tyre, your available grip will decrease dramaticaly and it will slip and trigger ABS. My bet is that this is what happened. RE: I do not like ABS - Cormanus - 08-20-2019 You blokes—jtopsio and motoRat—could meet at a suitable border crossing for a and a and a chat, figure all this out and report back.
