RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - misterprofessionality - 09-15-2018 for whoever has an opinion on this: help me refine my search. i'm looking at a one-piece exhaust that's hand bent, vs a header/slip-on combination that's not hand bent. is there a significant difference that's measurable? RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - itstuantran_imp - 09-15-2018 I believe this is what you are looking for: Ruyjin Exhaust from Japan http://ryujin-japan.jp/bike/other/cb1100rs.html ![]() [url=https://uphinhnhanh.com/image/3Lj5yR] ![]() (09-15-2018, 12:34 PM)misterprofessionality_imp Wrote: for whoever has an opinion on this: help me refine my search. i'm looking at a one-piece exhaust that's hand bent, vs a header/slip-on combination that's not hand bent. is there a significant difference that's measurable? I'm aware of that exhaust but i've specifically scratched it off my list for price reasons. it's almost $2500, while the ones I've been looking at are less than $1500. I'll repeat my question to stay on topic though: given a hand-bent one piece exhaust and a non-hand-bent header/slip on combo, what is the difference? RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - 736cc_imp - 09-16-2018 Hand-bent flows better, fits better, looks better, and have better ground clearance than machine made. Race bikes run hand-bent so it’s obvious what sounds better. Hand bent costs more, too. I have a used in perfect condition CB1100 Yoshimura full titanium hand bent exhaust for sale $999 shipped. Look in the classifieds. Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - Cormanus - 09-16-2018 I ask because I really don’t know: why would a hand-bent pipe necessarily flow better? RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - the Ferret - 09-16-2018 Usually smoother bends, more gentle arc for the exhaust gasses to pass thru RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - misterprofessionality - 09-16-2018 I see. so slightly better performance, and slightly better sound. How much of a difference are we talking about here? because according to my research it's about a 15% price difference, all other things being equal. RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - itstuantran_imp - 09-16-2018 If you see how they make the hand bent pipes, i thinks the difference in cost is much in the workmanship. It's more aesthetic compared to machine bent pipes as well. For performance and scavenging, only experts with tests can tell how much difference in sound and performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-gX-GQCk5k RE: Techserfu Titanium Exhaust - pekingduck - 09-16-2018 (09-16-2018, 01:44 PM)itstuantran_imp Wrote: If you see how they make the hand bent pipes, i thinks the difference in cost is much in the workmanship. The skill of the bender in that video was fascinating. At teh very beginning, you could see a bar pushed inside the tube. I wonder if the bar was connected to a series of round mandrels that would prevent the pipe from kinking. Or was it just a characteristic of the titanium material or the very gradual bend. In any case, it makes for a beautiful pipe, well worth a 15% price premium.
