RE: Honda CB500x - Cormanus - 01-05-2016 Good on you, Papa Weeley. I'm pretty sure Pterodactyl and I met one of those on the side of a mountain in NSW one wet, cold afternoon and the rider was pretty pleased with it. Looked like a lot of fun to me and I'll look forward to hearing more about it. RE: Honda CB500x - alphonsus_imp - 01-05-2016 Congrats on your new bike, Papa Weeley! I'm coming to the CB11 from a CB500F, which is identical to your new bike, bar the ADv styling, slightly longer suspension and different tyres. I loved my 500. I had no plans selling it but the CB11 came along and, well, it was love and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I do miss my 500. It is a great bike. I put around 20k kms in the two years I had it, rode it almost every day, and loved all of it. It's very practical, yes, but also lots of fun. I chose it over the NC because I thought the engine characteristic was much more pleasing than the 700. I also had several trips two-up with my wife, and we had no problems, power or suspension/handling wise. My wife found it very comfortable. As for touring, I took that bike across the Alps twice and had a blast. Here's a picture from one of my trips: ![]() Enjoy your new ride! I had a NC and loved it (traded it for my CB, no regrets), but when I bought it I also liked the 500 a lot and to this day I still consider it to make a great second bike. I would love to "scramblerize" one of the naked 500s (500F) but would not mind the 500x. Wow! I didn't expect such an enthusiastic response! If you had told me even two weeks ago that I'd be riding/buying a 500, I probably would have just laughed. But what a blast. Thanks for all the tips, especially this one for the Rally Raid parts, and the heads-up to the ADV forum - I signed up for the CB500x Forum, but hadn't even considered that. I'm thinking a set of TKC80 tires are in the near future, but for right now, the stock Pirelli Scorpion Trails feel pretty good through the canyons...oh, so many possibilities! ![]() P.S. Such an incredible photo, alphonsus! RE: Honda CB500x - redbirds_imp - 01-06-2016 (01-05-2016, 09:58 PM)alphonsus_imp Wrote: Congrats on your new bike, Papa Weeley! Lovely photo Alphonsus. You should post more. Now you got me longing for a CB500 Papa and my budget says no. RE: Honda CB500x - quietguy_imp - 01-06-2016 Incredible scenery, alphonsus!!! Beauty beyond description! Also... I have zero knowledge about the 500F models - are they all inline 4's? Nice looking bike for sure... Sadly my budget prevents me from getting a second bike... That is unless I can find a rich woman to give me aid and comfort (wink). RE: Honda CB500x - CB4ME_imp - 01-06-2016 Congrats Daniel. I almost pulled the trigger on a CB500X but the dealer gave me a sweet deal on a new NC700X. In hindsight I think I would have preferred the engine characteristics of the CB500X. You picked a great bike to compliment your CB1100. They're parallel twins, quietguy. Much smoother than my Bonneville was, I'll tell you that. And I'd be hard-pressed to say that the Triumph 865cc twin felt much stronger than this 500cc. Don't get me wrong - I loved my Bonnie - but just tossing that out there for info's sake. (01-06-2016, 08:13 AM)CB4ME_imp Wrote: Congrats Daniel.
