^ My pics are from a CBR250R, GO. Different bike, different construction, but similar problem (loose linkage). My boot doesn't touch the locknut (you can see the boot wear marks on the lever though).

Understood. Thumbs Up

Well after a long wait for them to arrive here in the U.S.A., I pulled the trigger and bought a 2020 Blue Monkey Z125 just after the first of this month...Yahoo! So, now the CB has a little brother to keep it company in the garage. During the wait, I had collected all the parts to do the mods I listed at the beginning of this thread, plus more. The shift linkage mod by the way, made a huge difference in positive shifting up and down, as well as finding neutral as easily as on the CB1100.

One of the very first mods though, was joining the RLETS Jedi it did. I have attached some pictures below. If there is any interest, I will do a series with pictures showing and explaining each mod that was done to the bike.

One of us you are now, oh wait. Nevermind. Wink

I would be interested in the shift linkage mod though.

Here ya go Popgun. The shift shaft support mod is paragraph 5, and the linkage mod is paragraph 6 in my opening post of this thread. Links are included for how to videos on YouTube, as well as sources for the parts. I dont know how beneficial the shift shaft support is ( couldn't hurt ), but the benefit of the linkage mod is very obvious having experienced the "before and after" first hand myself. To add icing on the cake, the total cost of the linkage mod is very wallet friendly, and very easy to install.

Here is a picture of both mods installed on my Z125. It was not easy to photograph. The shift shaft support can just be seen between the engine case, and the shift arm on the end of the shaft. It could be done even more economically than the way I did it, because I used all stainless, including the rod ends, whereas zinc plated rod ends and fasteners could have been used. This mod applies to Grom and Monkey Z125, as they both use the same stock linkage parts. When I took delivery, one of the employees went to ride it literally next door to a state inspection business to get it inspected. I saw him stop before entering the street, and watched him fish around trying to find neutral for a couple of minutes. I knew what it was, and briefly had the same problem at home. The clutch was adjusted properly, so it was definitely the linkage. Now it shifts up, down, and into neutral first time every time, and very positively.

So new; so many years of fun to come. Nice job on the shift linkage.
