Were you speaking of the wheel splines, or taking off the final drive to access driveshaft splines? Or both. No problemo. There's a few spots to lube, 2 obvious points are end of shaft that goes into transmission area and the ones on wheel hub to "pumpkin". But, the ones that totally get overlooked unless you've been floating around on the forums and hear about it is when you undo the 4 nuts in the middle of the shaft housing assembly where you'll find the other end of the driveshaft that goes into a coupler. That joint needs it as well. Honda Moly 60 is the proper lube for it. Not cheap, like 20-30 bucks for a little tube of it if i recall but it lasts forever etc. Let me try to dig up a DIY on the lubing. Ok here it is ! https://www.650ccnd.com/shaft2.htm The 650 star community is such a great group of guys like here and there are so many resources for mod and maintenance info. That site is golden. One other thought, don't forget about the shaft oil change. Super easy to do as well. just a drain/fill hole plug job with about a half quart of gear oil. Hope this helps RE: V-Star 650 Classic - Lord Popgun - 02-24-2020 There is a huge thread on Honda Moly 60 on the ST1300 owners(ST-owners.com) board. They are technical there. The Honda Moly 60 isn't available anymore. Honda has a different moly paste they say is ok. But it does not match the characteristics of the moly 60. Does it matter? I don’t know. But it has a LOT less than the 60% called for. I decided to go with one of the substitutes they recommended. Loctite moly paste. It is 65%. Good luck and as always, YMMV RE: V-Star 650 Classic - GoldOxide_imp - 02-24-2020 All my shaft drives were never more complicated than drainin' and fillin' the hypoid gear oil. That exercise was quite rare.
