Just curious, what are you trying to accomplish by clear coating the header?

Hopefully it will stop the browning of the header by keeping outside influences away from the hot stainless steel. I actually use the MC 160 version of this product on polished bronze memorials, in outside coastal conditions, with pretty good results.
