I've a vicarious interest in this thread.
The surround to my tachometer is slightly graunched. I winced at the £120 to replace it (it's a moulding incorporating both instrument housings) until I realised that it's not the black plastic I'd originally thought - it's actually an aluminium alloy casting! Wow! I shall now order it and "pay up and look big"!
My interest here is about dissembling and reassembling the whole lot. How did you get on with your repair, Pekingduck?
