RE: Yet another battery thread... - Lord Popgun - 06-13-2020 I did go to the dealer today. Parked in front and went in back to the service dept. and while filling out the work order for the inspection the mech went to ride the bike in. A few minutes later here he comes pushing the bike. “Won’t start” he said. The battery failed AT THE DEALER! I was going to buy one anyway and install it at home, but had to pay them to do it. Such is life, no biggie. FYI Battery prices have gone UP. Be ready if you need one. RE: Yet another battery thread... - Cormanus - 06-13-2020 As always, milord, your timing is exquisite. The one time I had to replace a battery, it was in the middle of a ride and I took it outside onto the forecourt of the dealer and changed it myself. Yet another battery thread... - PowerDubs_imp - 06-13-2020 What did they charge you? A ‘factory’ built battery is about $120 as I posted above. RE: Yet another battery thread... - Lord Popgun - 06-13-2020 They said the battery cost was $188 for the OE made in Japan Yuasa, but I paid $170 for it, plus $25.50 for installation. I paid $160 the last time I bought one (2016 I think). RE: Yet another battery thread... - the Ferret - 06-14-2020 Yea that's the same numbers I got when I bought my last one mi Lord. RE: Yet another battery thread... - Houtman_imp - 06-17-2020 I went to my local dealer today to get a new Yuasa OEM battery , but I checked the manufactory date on the back and it was from May 2019. I do not mind if it is a few months old but a year is too much. Batteries might not suffer as much sitting on a shelf than being in a hot bike but it is worth checking when you buy a NEW battery . I just go back in a while , my old one is getting close to 4 years old and that is the time I put a new one in my bikes. RE: Yet another battery thread... - Gone in 60 - 06-17-2020 When I got mine, the juice was not loaded yet. Yours was? RE: Yet another battery thread... - Lord Popgun - 06-17-2020 OEMs are AGM batteries. Nothing to add. RE: Yet another battery thread... - Gone in 60 - 06-17-2020 Huh. Last Yuasa I ordered for my CB came with the separate juice bottle, but that was from Revzilla or Bike Bandit, can't remember. Guess they come ready to use from the dealer so they can just be dropped in? If so, yeah, I wouldn't want a year-old one. |
