RE: OK....I Bought One Already - Nachodaddy - 02-07-2022 Beautiful bike. Nice find. Congratulations. RE: OK....I Bought One Already - GoldOxide_imp - 02-07-2022 I like the lump Wagonpeddler. Enjoy fully and completely. RE: OK....I Bought One Already - tommymck - 02-07-2022 The ride from Cumberland to Pittsburgh is actually not a bad one. Should be in the 50s for a couple of days this week it looks like... Just sayin'.... RE: OK....I Bought One Already - j3gq_imp - 02-07-2022 (02-07-2022, 10:35 AM)Wagonpeddler_imp Wrote: Thanks all. Have a friend willing to make the trip with me in his truck. Will have to rent a trailer. Exploring a few other options. May seek another Uship quote. Remember, if you out her on a truck ... do not let her rest on side- or centerstand during the haul. Fasten her otherwise. Good luck RE: OK....I Bought One Already - Wagonpeddler_imp - 02-07-2022 No side or center stand? Can you explain why? Thanks RE: OK....I Bought One Already - Houtman_imp - 02-07-2022 Much better to put the front wheel into a wheel chock and not use the side or centerstand , the bike will be much more stable . U Haul has special trailers for transporting bikes . Yes also use plenty of straps to keep the bike stable. I have seen enough bikes falling of trailers when they drive on the Interstates without enough straps . RE: OK....I Bought One Already - GoldOxide_imp - 02-07-2022 Under the right conditions (or wrong conditions), the side stand could klink like a toothpick under the weight and duress of the trailered machine. RE: OK....I Bought One Already - Nachodaddy - 02-08-2022 Get one of these from Harbor Freight for $70. You won't believe how many times you will use it and pat yourself on the back for spending that $70. https://www.harborfreight.com/1800-lb-capacity-motorcycle-standwheel-chock-61670.html RE: OK....I Bought One Already - KiowaEagle_imp - 02-08-2022 Nice find Wagonpeddler. Congrats! RE: OK....I Bought One Already - j3gq_imp - 02-08-2022 (02-07-2022, 08:04 PM)Wagonpeddler_imp Wrote: No side or center stand? Can you explain why? I had to truck mine last year and contacted a few companies for the best price, read up on there websites too. Every one reminded me, don't do it. Why ? Bad experience and therefore the warning ! The rational ? When the truck goes through bigger bumps in the road the weight seen by the side- or main stand can go up significantly. Imagine the truck hits a curb (etc.), the m/c gets accelerated vertically with 4g (which ain't even much), the stand sees 4 times the weight it usually sees, or it's been designed for. Much worse accelerations are possible. Truck or trailer, enough pressure on the tires (on the high side), bike straight up, handle bar straight, and tie-downs as needed - check a few youtube videos if unsure. |
