On one of my bikes I think it was maybe a Varadero under the seat clipped in a specially made place was a square made from metal rods welded together. I was puzzled as to what it was for so on a visit to a Honda dealer I asked and was told its a chain slack measure device and is part of the tool kit.
I still have it in the shed somewhere.
